Sugared on Steam, free version

Everything you say or type to her, her replies, her voice and her memory of you stay on your computer: the language model, speech recognition and voice run locally. We do not receive your conversations or your microphone audio.

Sugared Online (Steam Online pass) and the iPhone and Android apps

What you say to her (as text, after speech recognition, which runs on your device) is sent to our servers and to the AI model provider that generates her reply, and her reply comes back. We do not keep it, and we only use providers that do not store it or train on it.

To keep her memory of you, the app may send recent lines to be turned into short notes; the notes come straight back to your device and nothing is kept on our servers. Her memory of you, the name you asked her to call you, your notes for her and your edits to her personality are stored only on your device.

Each request carries an anonymous code for your account (never your email), so we can stop abuse and keep track of costs.

On the phone apps you have an account: your email address or your Apple or Google sign-in, and the date you confirmed you are 18 and accepted these terms.

Personal things you tell her

What you say to her can include personal things, such as your health, your family or your relationships. With the Online pass or the phone apps it passes through our servers to make her reply and her memory notes, and is never kept. Her memory keeps such things the way a close friend would, and is built to leave out test results, medicine doses, passwords, PINs, card, bank, account and ID numbers, and street addresses.

Her memory is stored only on your device. On the phone apps it is not included in iCloud or Google backups, so a new phone starts without it. You can make her forget any memory in Settings.

What we receive in every version

Your SteamID when the Steam app signs in to our store server, so we know which purchases are yours.

Records of purchases and subscriptions (which item or plan, the price, the time and the store's order or transaction reference). Payment itself is handled by Steam, Apple or Google; we never see card or wallet details.

A promoter code, if you entered one, so the promoter who referred you can be credited. Promoters see counts and their own earnings, never who you are.

Basic technical logs (time, IP address, errors) from our servers, to keep them working and to stop abuse.

From the phone apps, an anonymous report of how the app ran on your phone model (chip, frames per second, voice speed, temperature). It carries no account, name, identifier or location, so it cannot be linked to you; we use it to fix slow phones.

Anything you send us by email, through the app's support form or with "Report this reply": your email address, your message and, for a report, the reply you reported.

Who we share with

Valve (Steam), Apple and Google, to verify sign-ins and process purchases; the AI model provider that generates her replies (Online and phone apps only); our hosting, database and content-delivery providers; and nobody else. We do not sell your information and do not share it for advertising. We disclose information where the law requires it.

Retention

Your conversations are not kept. Her memory of you and your notes stay on your device until you delete them or the app. Purchase records are kept as long as accounting and tax law require. Server logs are kept for a short time.

Your rights and deleting your data

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, the Australian Privacy Act and US state laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data. On the phone apps, Settings → Delete account deletes your account and everything stored with it; for that or any privacy request you can also email support@sugaredgames.com.

Adults only

Sugared is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
